Hospitality group eyes national expansion
A Newcastle-based hospitality group is planning to grow its UK footprint after receiving a nine-figure funding package.
The Inn Collection Group, which operates pubs with rooms across Northern England and North Wales, is using £125 million of HSBC UK funding to expand its portfolio through acquisitions of leisure sites.
The group currently runs 31 locations, including The Harrogate Inn, The Black Swan in Helmsley and The Angel Inn in Bowness.
Bosses say the funding will support a five-year strategy to increase the number of establishments to more than 40, while boosting staff numbers from 1300 to over 2000 across various roles.
The group, formed in 2013 and acquired by a Harris Family Trust-backed company in 2022, reported a turnover of £83.9 million in 2024 and is targeting double-digit growth as part of its national expansion plans.
Joe Bernhoeft, chief financial officer at The Inn Collection Group, said: “Staying true to our roots, we always aim to celebrate traditional British pub culture whilst providing comfort and welcoming spaces across the country.
“We are looking forward to this next stage of company growth as we continue to expand across the UK and provide sites that are warm and full of character.”
Stephen Smith, relationship director at HSBC UK, added: “We’re pleased to welcome The Inn Collection Group to HSBC UK and to provide a tailored financing package that supports the business and its management team in achieving their growth ambitions in the years ahead.
“This transaction further reinforces HSBC UK’s commitment to supporting the UK hospitality sector.”
