Distribution firm 'set to drive on' after takeover
A distribution firm says it is in gear for growth after completing a takeover.
Barnes Logistics has bought waste and recycling sector haulier Ningbo Walking Floors.
Bosses say the agreement will create a new environmental division within the Rochdale-based operator, and push annual turnover 75 per cent higher to more than £20 million.
They add all of Ningbo’s Wrexham-based staff and its 40-strong fleet will switch to Barnes Logistics.
Chief executive Chris Barnes said the “significant” acquisition provides the company – which has further bases in Nantwich, Coventry and Houghton-le-Spring, near Sunderland, with “great” growth potential.
He said: “Ningbo has experienced rapid growth since it was formed in 2022.
“We aim to guide it to the next level by integrating it into the business as our new environmental division.”
Founded in 2005, Barnes Logistics’ services include overnight and hazardous goods transport, with its customer book stretching from small and family-owned businesses to household names.
