Media Borne scales its creative vision
A North East creative studio is expanding its production capabilities.
Media Borne, founded and led by Chris Thompson, has developed from a small video-production outfit into a full-service creative studio based in Gateshead.
Building on Chris’ background in commercial filmmaking and content strategy, the business has secured a six-figure Innovate UK award to establish a new Virtual Production Hub at its Borne Studios base.
The investment supports the company’s shift towards advanced production techniques, combining real-time green screen, Unreal Engine environments and multi-camera workflows.
Alongside servicing client commissions, the hub will allow the studio to develop original creative IP and pursue opportunities in branded entertainment and immersive media.
Chris said: “I’ve always believed that world-class creative work doesn’t need to happen only in London.
“Our ambition is to build something right here in the North East that gives local brands, agencies and creators access to the same tools, the same innovation and the same global mindset.”
He added: “Our Studio is founded on the vision that stories should engage audiences as a community, not simply consumers – and we’re building the infrastructure to do exactly that.”
Media Borne’s evolution under Chris has included expanding its national client base, investing in technology and talent and repositioning the business model to focus more heavily on IP creation.
The studio has also strengthened partnerships and secured regional backing to support its roadmap, reflecting its commitment to helping shape the North East’s growing creative and digital sector.
Chris added: “We’re not setting up a studio – we’re establishing a platform for the next generation of creative talent, brands and technology to thrive here, in the heart of the North East.”
