Leeds digital retailer scales global ambitions

A fast-growing digital retail and wholesale company in Leeds is on track to treble turnover and significantly expand its team, following targeted growth and export support.

Tilz Prosperitas Limited, founded in 2017 by Tayo Adebisi with just £5000 of start-up capital, has evolved from selling locally sourced toys into a global e-commerce and B2B operation supplying multiple international markets.

The business now operates across online retail, wholesale and branded gifting, employing a mix of full-time and part-time staff from its Leeds warehouse, including Tayo’s husband Dr Oladipo Adewale, who joined the firm last year as managing director.

Turnover has already reached £3.5 million this financial year and is forecast to hit £4.5 million by January, with longer-term ambitions to reach £9 million by 2029.

Tilz exports across Europe and North America, with international sales accounting for around half of revenue.

That figure is expected to rise further as the company expands its B2B footprint, increases its presence at international trade shows and secures new physical retail partnerships.

Tilz’s growth has been supported through West Yorkshire Business Boost’s leadership, innovation and export programmes, which have helped shape strategy, strengthen leadership capability and unlock new funding.

Recent trade loans have enabled the business to meet rising overseas demand and expand into new territories.

Tayo said: “The support we’ve received has enabled us to focus on developing critical strategies for growth in a competitive landscape.

“We’ve gained access to expert guidance, allowing us to refine our export strategy, adopt innovative approaches and strengthen leadership capacity.

“This has been instrumental in enhancing our resilience and expanding market reach which will help us to achieve our goals for the next three years and strengthen our position for long-term success.”

Looking ahead, the company plans to broaden its year-round product range, launch an e-commerce consultancy and logistics service, as well as develop a platform to support global entrepreneurs accessing the UK market.

Caroline Kindy, growth specialist at West Yorkshire Business Boost, which is funded by West Yorkshire Combined Authority through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, added: “Tilz is a shining example of how great vision, leadership and innovation can play a key role in building operational stability and driving business growth.

“I’m confident that with this new insight, Tayo and Ola will meet their ambitious plans to treble turnover.”
