Weston Homes makes trio of senior appointments
Weston Homes has made three senior leadership appointments as it continues to strengthen its development, partnerships and design capability.
Steve Hatton, group development director, has joined the Weston Homes Group Board, while Abbie Simpson has been promoted to land and partnerships director and Daniel Murray to planning and design director.
The appointments support the group’s next phase of growth following the launch of Weston Partnerships, a dedicated division focused on development partnerships across the wider living sector, including build-to-rent, affordable housing, student accommodation, co-living and later living.
Led by Steve Hatton, the division already has a pipeline of more than 1000 homes across sites in Bracknell, Barking and Cambridge.
Steve joined Weston Homes in 2002 through the company’s management trainee programme and has progressed through the business to become one of its most senior leaders.
During his career, he has played a key role in delivering several of the group’s largest schemes, including Abbey Quay in Barking and Lorimer Village in Goodmayes, together representing more than 2400 homes.
He said: “Weston Homes has been a huge part of my life and career, so joining the Group Board is a really special milestone.
“We have a number of landmark developments in progress that are truly building new communities and I look forward to working with our senior team as we continue to grow and evolve.”
Abbie Simpson joined Weston Homes in 2015 as a trainee land manager and has progressed through the land team into a senior leadership role.
“A chartered surveyor with a first-class honours degree in real estate management, she has been closely involved in securing and delivering development opportunities across London and the south east.
In her new role, she will lead land acquisition and partnership activity across the business.
Abbie added: “Having grown my career with Weston Homes over the past decade, it’s an honour to step into this new role.
“This is an exciting time for the business, and I’m looking forward to working closely with our partners to identify new opportunities and help deliver the next generation of high-quality developments that Weston Homes is known for.”
Daniel Murray joined Weston Homes in 2018 as a senior architect and has since advanced through a number of senior design roles, most recently as head of design.
A chartered architect, he brings both UK and international experience and has helped shape the design approach across a number of the group’s major developments.
As planning and design director, he will lead the creative and strategic direction of future schemes.
Daniel added: “Design is at the heart of everything we do at Weston Homes.
“I’m excited to build on that strong foundation and lead our talented team as we continue to create thoughtfully designed homes and communities that people are proud to live in.”
Collectively, the appointments reflect Weston Homes’ continued investment in leadership, partnerships and design quality as the business diversifies and expands its development pipeline.
Bob Weston, chairman and managing director of Weston Homes, added: “Recognising and championing exceptional talent is vital to everything we do at Weston Homes.
“We always strive to support our team’s personal and professional development, and it is a source of considerable personal pride to see colleagues’ achievements and qualifications alongside their excellent work within the group.
“These promotions reflect the strength of our people and come at a pivotal moment for the business, as landmark developments such as Abbey Quay and the growth of Weston Partnerships pave the way for the future.”
