EAL Pedagogy - Decoding "Alien" Language

Online Event: EAL Pedagogy - Decoding "Alien" Language

The University of Sunderland have created a suite of free online ‘Inspired Learning Workshops’.

These sessions will not only benefit those who work in a teaching, training or coaching role but also help those who manage teams and are looking for ways to positively influence communication, training, training delivery and experience within their organisation.

EAL Pedagogy - Decoding “Alien” Language

Learners who speak English as an additional Language have a dual task while learning: to learn English (language) and to learn through English. For this reason, EAL pedagogy aims to teach English using taught content as the context. Specific teaching strategies and resources are therefore necessary to make the language of learning accessible to EAL Learners.

This session aims to give the knowledge of what it feels like to be an EAL learner and help you to think about how you can support the development of English skills.

This virtual masterclass will not only benefit those who work in a teaching or training role but also those who manage teams and are looking for ways to support the development of English skills of their EAL learners, ensuring a positive learning experience for all.

Presented by Lecturer - Reece Sohdi, Programme leader for the Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeship at The University of Sunderland.
