A FRESH CHAPTER OF CHANGE
Change is sweeping across North East England.
From historic devolution deals to multi-sector commercial advances helping reshape the world, the North East is leading the way.
And by focusing on those achievements, and the future promise provided by the area’s two mayoral-led regeneration bodies, Why the North East? will showcase the region’s innovators and their transformative moves.
The event will take place at family-founded distribution firm AV Dawson’s sprawling hub on the banks of the River Tees, in Middlesbrough, from where the business continues to grow across port, road, rail and storage operations.
FOCUSED ON SUPERCHARGING GROWTH
The Tees Valley event marks the latest phase of NET’s flagship VISION 31 campaign.
Founded in 2021, and spearheaded by a programme of high- level roundtable and panel discussions, VISION 31 aims to supercharge North East industrial and economic growth across the next decade.
A number of events took place across 2022 and 2023, focusing on topics including the built environment, devolution, energy transition, funding and investment, healthcare, manufacturing, skills and technology.
In 2024, the programme was led by a London summit that united North East business leaders and entrepreneurs with City investors and sector experts.
Each and all stirred colourful and in-depth conversations that were captured across multi-platform publisher NET’s print and digital channels, which include the national daily business news platform Bdaily bought by NET last year.
And the Tees Valley event will build on that progress, highlighting the headline investments and regeneration schemes that have created fresh commercial ecosystems and jobs while laying foundations for further success.
It will amplify Tees Valley and the wider North East through panel discussions that will celebrate the game-changing advances the region is hothousing, the highly-skilled workers it is nurturing and the transformative projects it is leading.
Set to be complemented by a further event in London in late VISION 31 2025, and further dates in 2026, the Tees Valley summit will show the North East is ready to lead another industrial era, just as it did with coal mining, shipbuilding and through the iron and steel that helped forge the world.
