PayPal Credit Cards
eBay’s payment arm PayPal is to offer a credit card to its UK users. Backed by GE Money the card will be available to any of eBay’s 10million UK users immediately and to anyone else who wants one from mid-May. Online applicants for the cards will get an instant decision on whether their application has been accepted.
Despite this, the credit cards will not be linked to PayPal accounts. Instead they will be a standalone business, marking the first venture for the company outside the arena of online payments. This month 100,000 PayPal account holders will be offered the cards. In separate news, courts in the US have decided that the Internal Revenue Service does have the right to ask PayPal for information on US taxpayers who use the service to send money to 30 countries described as known tax havens.PayPal has not responded to the decision but did say it takes users privacy very seriously.
