New cultural website for NE
A website to showcase the North East’s culture has been launched. www.whatsonnortheast.com, launched by regional audience development agency Audiences North East aims to persuade local people to participate in the huge range of cultural and entertainment facilities the region has to offer.
The site will feature bloggers from the local community posting their opinions on a range of events and performances, and exclusive ticket offers and promotions. Site launch promotions include the chance to win everything from an package of summer outdoor Shakespeare tickets, to afternoon tea for six at the Mansion House. Visitors will also be able to buy tickets online for the region’s venues.
Elaine Wilson Chief Executive of Audiences North East said: “Our benchmarking survey showed that 50% of people in the North East felt that they didn’t know as much about what was going on as they’d like. We want the website to address this and to be a real community platform for more local people to have a voice about what’s going on in the cultural sector and to take up the opportunities that are available to them.”
