Bar Buy Signals Start Of Brand Expansion
Upmarket Tyneside bar Popolo has added a new string to the bow of Washington-based leisure chain, Aquaclear Leisure Ltd.
Purchasing the bar from The Gusto Group – which is still retaining its other Newcastle properties: Paradiso, Intermezzo and Secco – Aquaclear revealed plans to grow the brand, with sites in other cities currently being earmarked. Stuart Young, operations manager of Aquaclear Leisure Ltd, said: “We are currently looking at three other sites in other parts of the country for us to create further Popolo’s. “We feel we have bought more than a bar, we have bought a very strong brand and we plan to develop it, while retaining the same core values.”
The Pilgrim Street bar will now be part of a stable of bars and restaurants which are owned by Aquaclear Leisure, including the Blue Coyote bar and grill also in Pilgrim Street, San Lorenzo restaurant in Gosforth and Capella in Cramlington.
