Ear plugs blueprint for Durham success
Ear plugs and holiday camps have taken the top prizes at Durham University’s Blueprint awards. The annual business planning competition saw over 80 students, post-graduates and recent university leavers submit a range of innovative business plans. Ideas ranging from healthy snack bars and musical instruments, to cutting edge marketing tools and property sales solutions were shortlisted for the prestigious awards which took place at Halgarth Manor, Pittington on Monday evening.Competition was fierce it was a plan to design well-fitting ear plugs to match the natural shape of the ear, which won over the judges and scooped first prize of £2000. The second prize winners, a holiday camp for 8 – 14 year olds specialising in sport and drama picked up a cheque for £1000 plus free consultancy for a year.These two winners will now go forward to Blueprint: the North East Universities Business Planning Competition 2006 where they will go head-to-head with the two best business plans from the universities of Sunderland, Teesside, Newcastle and Northumbria.
