Farewell to Shearer
If you missed the commotion on Tyneside yesterday, last night was Alan Shearer’s last match with Newcastle United. In tribute to the footballing legend’s 10 years at the club, the town was decked out in Magpie colours, with pyrotechnics at St James’ Park and even Grey’s Monument wearing black and white stripes. Shearer himself didn’t play much of the game against Celtic due to injury, just kicking-off and coming back to score the winning goal from a penalty in extra time, to lead Newcastle to a 3-2 victory.
