Female Festival Fundraiser Tonight
The first fundraiser event for Ladyfest Newcastle is taking place tonight.
Ladyfest Newcastle will be a weekend-long festival taking place in September, to celebrate and showcase the creative talents of women. The festival will be a mix of music, performances, art and workshops. Heather Barry, one of the event organisers, explains the festival’s raison d’etre: “It is first and foremost a celebration of the creativeness of female artists and musicians both locally and nationally.
Further to this however, as so many festivals are male-dominated, it really does give us a chance to redress the balance in a non-threatening way. We intend to provide a supportive platform for all those incredible female talents, without being discriminative, and all the while putting on a damn good festival open to everyone“. The venue for tonight’s event is the well-known music venue at the Head of Steam, Newcastle, and performances start at 7pm.
Entrance is a mere £3 so why not kick up your heels and join the all female line-up in raising the funds for Newcastle’s lady-driven creative arts fest. For more information, please see www.ladyfestnewcastle.co.uk. Please note that this is an all-inclusive event and both men and women are welcome to attend.
