Green Day save the day
It’s not often that rock and roll saves lives, but Green Day’s latest album potentially saved a whole street getting blown up, reports CBBC. 12-year-old Ruby, from Halifax, was clearing leaves when she found a hand grenade. She only realised what it was from seeing the picture of Green Day’s American Idiot album cover, which shows a hand holding a heart-shaped grenade. Her dad told her to put down the grenade and then he called the army, who evacuated ten houses and then conducted a controlled explosion. It’s thought Ruby’s garden was once the site of a weapons factory.
