Mental floss
It’s annoying when you have food stuck in your teeth, but would you floss with a screwdriver? According to the National Dental Survey, over 60% of people will use anything to pick their teeth - including screwdrivers, scissors, needles, earrings, keys, paper clips, matchsticks, nail files, pencils and knives. Dr Nigel Carter, chief executive of the British Dental Health Foundation, commented: “Clearly people really need to be educated on the importance of flossing. “A screwdriver is hardly the most flexible of items and I don’t think people realise the damage this could do to their gums!” Yesterday was the start of ‘National Smile Month’.
