New appointment is Amazing news for Tyneside company

Former BBC newsreader Anna Ford is joining the board of Tyneside-based educational software company, The Amazing Group. Ms Ford’s new role will include promoting the company, but specifically assisting in the development of content for adult learners.This is the only other formal business interest that Ms Ford is taking on after becoming a Director of Sainsbury’s plc last month. Ms Ford was an Open University and WEA lecturer before joining the BBC in 1976 where she forged a 30-year career as a newsreader, leaving in April. She is also Co-Chancellor of Manchester University. She said: “Lifelong learning for everyone is a passion of mine. Having taught many years ago, I’ve long wanted to get actively involved in education again. The Amazing Group is a really exciting prospect, with all sorts of avenues to explore and I’m looking forward to joining their highly-qualified and creative team”. CEO of The Amazing Group, Paul Campbell said: “We’re tremendously excited that Anna is joining us. She has such a breadth of experience and interests, with particular expertise in and commitment to adult learning, which is a major growth area for us. We hope to bring the benefits of Amazing content and software to a much wider audience as a result of her involvement. The appointment of Anna is a manifestation of our single-minded intent to create a leading-edge digital business of international significance.”
