North East collaboration on major employment initiative
Four North East organisations have teamed up on the development of a major European employment initiative. The Amazing Group, Leighton Education, New College Durham and 4Projects are working with other organisations in the education and industrial sector across nine EU countries to develop a project which will enable young people across Europe to develop and refine their employability skills. The “Framework” initiative will include, amongst other things, an online database of work placement opportunities accessible by students, companies and higher education establishments alike, an online mentoring and development package for employers and an online assessment tool, focusing on the development of skills that are vital in the workplace. David Taylor, General Manager of the Framework project, said: “Businesses have much to gain by offering work placements to students - the three month placements are taken up by higher education students with good existing skills and the organisations can access mentoring training for their existing staff.“If your organisation would like to find out more about the initiative and the work placements scheme, go to www.frameworkproject.com or email businet@online.be.
