Vipers looking for support
Last season’s Elite Ice Hockey League champions the Mobilx Newcastle Vipers are encouraging corporate sponsors to help them maintain their position as number one ice hockey team in the UK. Currently the most successful team in the region’s history, the Vipers are outperforming their rivals both on and off the ice, ending last season on a high note by winning the first major trophy in the history of a Newcastle team – the 2006 Playoff Championship and enjoying the flush of success under its new management team. Ice hockey is the UK’s fastest growing spectator sport, with 32 licensed clubs in the UK. The Vipers are now setting out its plans to increase its turnover by one third in the 2006/07 season, by increasing gate revenue and securing additional sponsorship deals with North East businesses. Steven Bell of the Vipers’ key sponsor Mobilx said: “This is an excellent opportunity for businesses of all sizes to show their support for one of the region’s most successful sports teams which is fast growing in popularity. “The increasing level of television coverage of the sport, now the team are so successful, gives sponsors a chance to get their brand in front of thousands of people they might not ordinarily reach, and it’s also a very affordable way of networking with other business organisations.“Anyone interested in finding out more about sponsoring the Vipers should contact Jaimie longmuir on 0191 2422420 or jaimie.lingmuir@newcastlevipers.com
