Young Entrepreneurs Give MetroCentre Traders A Run For Their Money

Where: METROCENTRE (Gateshead), Town Square, next to House of FraserWhen: SUNDAY 5 FEBRUARY, 11:00am-5:00pm Awards Ceremony 5:15pm led by Galaxy FM’s DJ, StreetboyA record 49 student companies will be setting out their stalls at this year’s annual Young Enterprise Trade Fair at the MetroCentre this Sunday afternoon.The young tycoons are all taking part in the Young Enterprise Company, Team or Graduate programmes, which see them set up a real trading company and learn all about business in the process.

Companies taking part this year include:• Hartlepool 6th Form College – company called RetroTease selling T shirts, underwear and accessories. • Durham High School for Girls – company called Xquisite selling scarves and cushions. • Gateshead College GC Enterprises selling glass vases, cards and trinket boxes. • Hetton School – Junk Its – selling ornamental insects made from recycled junk. • Teesside High School – B Something – selling bracelets, beaded notebooks and gift boxes. • Thornhill School, Sunderland – Fluff n Stuff – selling fluffy files, Ipod ‘socks’ and pencil cases. • Oakleigh Gardens School, South Shields – Simply the Best! Selling bric a brac. • Burnside Business and Enterprise College, Wallsend – offering a coffee shop service. • Branksome School, Darlington – Neutral Temptation, selling cushions, key hooks and rings, plant pots and jewellery.

Newcastle University – Little Rascals - offering a children’s party planning service. The companies will be judged on the day by local business people Dave Spensley from Aycliffe Fabrications, David Wilson from Natwest, Justin Turner from Carrot Media Ltd, Kari Owers of O Communications and Kate Bodenham of the Metro Centre and the host for the Awards Ceremony finale of the day is Galaxy FM’s Streetboy.

Prizes will be awarded for Overall Winner, Best Trade Stand, Best Product or Service, Best Sales and Marketing, Best Graduate Programme and Best Team Programme.
