Regional premiere for North East documentaries
Residents in the North East have the chance to have a sneak preview of three regional documentaries ahead of their national broadcast on digital TV. Directed by three North East film makers, each documentary features three very different takes on community life in the North East of England.
Emily Barber’s Sing Your Heart Out which follows the life of a community choir, Reuben Jacob Abraham’s The Lawnmowers which features a motley bunch of actors who are affected by learning disabilities, and Louise Rea’s The Chevy Chase which introduces the audience to hill racing will be broadcast on The Community Channel on consecutive weeks from Wednesday 27 September 2006, showing at 8am and 8pm.
The documentaries have been filmed as part of Northern Film & Media’s Community Documentary Scheme. Tom Harvey, Chief Executive of Northern Film & Media, said: “It is very important that we enable writers and directors to produce work that result in North East voices and stories being broadcast on national television. Our community Documentary scheme has done exactly that. We are very proud of the three documentaries on show.”
The ‘Three to See’ premiere of the three documentaries will take place at the Journal Tyne Theatre on Monday 25 September, 2006 at 6pm.
