New digital news editor strengthens agency team

Creative communications agency The bgroup continues its expansion drive with the appointment of Robert Perry as the new editor of the bdaily, the company’s free interactive news publication that goes out to 7000 online subscribers across the region.

Knaresborough-born Robert graduated from Newcastle University with a degree in applied communications, followed by an MA in English Literature. He joins The bgroup from a Newcastle-based publishing company, bringing with him several years experience in publishing, production and media roles with organisations around the region. A keen musician, he also plays trombone in two local jazz bands in his spare time.

His role will see him develop the bdaily range of news feeds, including bdaily xtra magazine, a quarterly online publication that provides in-depth reports and interviews with key innovators across a range of technology, arts, science, business and entrepreneurship topics that affect the heart of the region.

Robert is already relishing his new role: “I’m really excited about this new challenge, which brings together all the elements of both my experience and my long term career ambitions in one fantastically interesting role.

“Being involved at the heart of digital journalism while the media is still in a rapid growth stage is a superb opportunity for The bgroup to continue to play a key role at the forefront of new communication channels. We have some exciting plans to develop the range of news services we offer, in line with reader feedback, and I’m looking forward to expanding our content range to give our readers more of what they want.”

The new appointment sees former bdaily editor Caz Ulley move across to become senior copywriter, concentrating on developing the company’s copywriting team, which works on a wide range of media and marketing campaigns for organisations involved in the youth enterprise sector across the UK.

Managing director Siobhan Bales said: “Robert is set to be a great addtion to our team. With the recent launch of bdailytv, plus a series of contract wins to deliver youth marketing campaigns around the country, this is an extremely busy stage in the company’s development and his experience in the digital news sector will help us push bdaily and its associated services out to an even wider audience.”

The bgroup is a full service brand and communications company, devising and delivering business development and enterprise promotion campaigns for public and private sector clients including the Aspire initiative, Enterprise Insight, the National Council for Graduate Entrepreneurship, the Shell STEP programme and various regional development agencies and educational bodies.
