Vote for North East's TV Top Twenty
North East viewers still have time to vote in the Royal Television Society 2006 Viewers’ Choice Award. The new award has been introduced to mark the 20th anniversary of the RTS awards in the region and for the first time viewers have the opportunity to vote for the best North East programmes of the last two decades.
The North East and Border branch of the RTS will be celebrating the occasion at a special ceremony held at The Sage Gateshead in January, where other new awards will be presented and show reels will be played throughout the night. A shortlist of 20 programmes has been drawn up and among the shows up for the vote are Our Friends in the North, Byker Grove and Auf Wiedersehn Pet along with favourites such as The Tube and The Dales Diary. The awards allow people from the North East to have their work recognised and commended on a more local level.
Hundreds of viewers from the region have already cast their votes for their favourite programme but there is still time before the November 27 deadline. Viewers can vote online at www.rtsviewerschoice.co.uk.
