Creative agency back at school
Jesmond based agency Alkaline Creative Communications is aiding local universities in educating students on the realities of working within the creative industry. The public relations team at Alkaline is working with Newcastle University, acting as guest lecturers to students on their new MA in Media and Public Relations programme.
The course offers media analysis combined with surrounding social and cultural issues, and caters for both new students and those with experience wishing to enhance their skills. As part of the programme Alkaline will deliver an interactive presentation giving an insight into the daily working life as a PR officer.
Tori Lowth, Senior Account Manager at Alkaline, said: “As a company we realise the difficulties experienced by graduates wanting to break into and establish a career within the creative sector, particularly in the PR and design industries. “No longer trailing London, Manchester and Leeds, PR in the North East continues to develop as an important element within the marketing strategies of local commerce. At this time we are happy to establish links with local universities and help them to develop and progress their courses.”
Alkaline’s design team has also been working with lecturers from Sunderland University. Creative Director Michael Thompson has been providing case studies of his work for use with students on their courses.
