Positive Future for region's youth

Culture change campaign Aspire is backing a new enterprise pilot project that brings business leaders to young people to inspire them to consider positive employment choices for their future and remain in the North East to forge their careers. Aspire, along with Aimhigher and One NorthEast, is funding the Your Positive Future! road-show, developed by Durham-based event management company She’s Gott It!. The programme will be delivered in 14 schools across the region, inspiring 3500 young people aged 14 to 16.

The Your Positive Future! programme seeks to strengthen current enterprise initiatives throughout the region by identifying skills gaps and providing activities that tackle these areas. The programme also provides the young people involved with access to role models in the form of regional business people from a variety of skills sectors, promoting a positive image of the North East.

Pamela Hargreaves, young people and partnerships manager at the Aspire campaign said: “We saw something different in the Your Positive Future! project that fits with the Aspire message perfectly. We are thrilled to be helping this project get off the ground. We wanted to push our boundaries to support this innovative way of engaging young people, through developing enterprising skills, attitudes and knowledge. We are keen to encourage our registered businesses to get involved in this project.”

The project is running until April 2007, so if you or your business would like to get involved in the Your Positive Future! campaign contact Jacqui Wallace at She’s Gott It! on 0191 370 9559.
