'Oh yes it is' a record-breaking pantomime

Sales for Theatre Royal Newcastle’s ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ pantomime starring Jill Halfpenny have officially broken the £1 million mark. On Monday 8 January, the Box Office sales figures reached £1,000,079, making Jack and the Beanstalk the most successful pantomime in the Theatre Royal’s history and the fastest selling pantomime in the North East.

Philip Bernays, Chief Executive of the Theatre Royal said: “I’m delighted to report that we have grossed over £1 million at the Box Office. Well over 70,000 people will have seen what we believe to be the best pantomime in the country. “The reviews for Jack and the Beanstalk have been amazing and the positive feedback we have received from patrons has continued throughout the run. “I’d like to thank everyone who has worked so hard on the show, and everyone who has been to see it too - I look forward to welcoming them back for Aladdin.”

Michael Harrison, writer, director and producer of Jack and the Beanstalk, said: “Hitting the million pound mark is an enormous achievement, and it’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of all those involved in this year’s production. “I’ve already started work on next year’s pantomime, Aladdin, and we have some very special surprises in store!”

A limited number of tickets are still available for Jack and the Beanstalk from as little as £6. Tickets can be purchased from the Theatre Royal Box Office on 0870 905 5060 or online at www.theatreroyal.co.uk. The pantomime is at the Theatre Royal until Saturday 20 January. Tickets for the Theatre Royal’s 2007 pantomime Aladdin are also on sale now from the Box Office, and over 25,000 tickets have already been sold or reserved.
