Fine food and good beer
Wining and dining is not the only recipe for an evening of good taste, as beer expert Alastair Gilmour will show when he hosts a special dinner at Jesmond Dene House. The three-times winner of Britain’s Beer Writer of the Year is teaming up with chef Terry Laybourne to find the perfect match between good beer and fine food.
Alastair, The Journal’s beer writer, will show that far from being the poor relation of wine, beer deserves a place on the most discerning tables. The evening will consist of a three-course meal – with each course matched to a regionally brewed beer. Alastair will introduce each beer and each course, describing how northern-brewed beers can complement local produce.
Guests can even discover the ideal beer ‘aperitif’ and beer ‘digestif’. The dinner will be held on Sunday January 21 at 8pm and costs £35 per person. To make a booking or for further information, please call (0191) 2123000 or email info@jesmonddenehouse.co.uk.
