Launch Pad set for takeoff
A new facility aiming to inspire the region’s businesses, students, communities and enterprises has been launched this week by One NorthEast. Appropriately named the Launch Pad, this mobile classroom intends to offer an interesting and stimulating environment that can be adapted to suit the needs of the target audience.
One NorthEast hope that working with creative enterprise promoters on the Launch Pad will serve as a catalyst to help educate and inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to realise their skills, think in an enterprising way and consider setting up their own business or social enterprise.
One NorthEast Director of Business and Industry, David Allison, said: “One NorthEast is dedicated to promoting enterprise and encouraging a greater number of home-grown firms to prosper. I am therefore delighted to see the development of the Launch Pad to promote and support the enterprise agenda. “Self-employment is a realistic career option and that’s the key message we want to get across. By visiting schools, colleges, community centres and youth groups on a regular basis, we believe we can encourage dynamic thinking, and the creation of new ventures.”
The Launch Pad can seat 12-15 people and comes equipped with facilities such as internet access, laptop computers, a plasma screen and an interactive whiteboard. The Launch Pad will form part of an overall enterprising approach allowing the One NorthEast enterprise team and partners to work closely with the people that will help shape the economic future of the region.
