White tea is business winner
The winner of last year’s Biz Idol competition has seen a successful first year in business, and has now joined forces with the BBC to reach a potential celebrity market. BizIdol 2006 winner Sharon Olver’s company, HoneyBush & Butterbum Ltd., imports and sells loose leaf white tea under its own brand, ‘t’.
The company is sponsoring the BBC’s Comic Relief Show this Friday 16 March with a donation of £250 worth of tea. The tea will be offered as a thank you gift to each of the 65 celebrities who give their time free of charge to the fundraising event and will be available for everyone in the ‘green room’, meaning the tea could be being drunk by the likes of Russell Brand, Dawn French, Kate Moss, Jonathon Ross and Take That.
Since winning the Business Week Tyne and Wear competition last year Sharon has successfully launched her loose leaf white tea in the North East where it is currently on sale in Fenwick’s of Newcastle and a number of delicatessens. Plans for national distribution are underway, an iced white tea and a white tea ice cream are currently being developed, and a suitable location for a first teahouse is being sought.
The company’s philosophy is based around contributing to the ‘greater good’. Their mission is to promote a healthy living lifestyle through getting people to drink and experience white tea, which Sharon buys directly through investment in the growers in China.
