Northern Lights win business with the BBC
Two leading North Eastern digital companies have been selected to work with the BBC on groundbreaking new media projects after impressing at a week-long ‘Innovation Lab’ between 5–9 March. The Innovation Labs were set up by the BBC as part of a scheme to work with independent new media agencies throughout the UK.
After submitting their ideas to the BBC, new media technology firms Enigma Interactive, Tagish and TH_NK were selected from more 30 companies to attend the North of England Lab, held at Swinton Hall Hotel in North Yorkshire from March. At the end of the Labs, Enigma and Tagish were commissioned to take their ideas forward to eventually become part of the world-renowned bbc.co.uk website.
Nick Salloway, business development manager at Enigma Interactive, said: “The Innovation Labs provided a perfect environment for the region’s brightest new media companies to demonstrate their creative flair. The success of Enigma and Tagish clearly demonstrates that inspirational creativity is alive and well within the region.”
Andrew Fisk, managing director of Tagish, said: “Being selected by the BBC to take part in the Innovation Labs was a great accomplishment in itself. Having our final concept accepted and being given the opportunity to develop it further has surpassed our expectations and is a great credit to our company. “We have faced some tough competition during the Innovation Lab process, so being one of the two Northern companies selected to implement our idea is very special achievement, and a fantastic end to a great 12 months for Tagish.”
