Free 'passionate people' training

South Tyneside community workers are being offered the chance to get energised through free training that promises to boost passion, creativity and entrepreneurial skills. Training sessions worth thousands of pounds are being made available free as part of plans to make South Tyneside more enterprising.

The training package is one of the first moves under the new UCANB project. This project is delivered on behalf of and funded through South Tyneside Means Business, a partnership responsible for increasing the number of business start-ups and survivals, supporting businesses to grow and attracting inward investment in South Tyneside. The South Tyneside Means Business programme is delivering £16.2m of funding over three years, secured last summer through the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI).

Rick O’Farrell, Head of Enterprise and Regeneration for South Tyneside Means Business, said: “In many cases starting a business can seem like a daunting task, but with help and advice from people at grass routes level, the ‘fear factor’ of making that first step towards seeking advice can be greatly reduced. The courses offer those working in the community a chance to not only advise and inspire local people, but also learn new skills on a personal level, adding another string to their professional bow.”

The sessions have been organised by TEDCO and will be delivered by top UK training organisation The MBA Consultancy. The training will take place at Boldon Friendly Hotel and will include a two-course lunch.
