Lodges aim to boost Northumberland tourism
The Northumberland tourism industry has been given a further boost for 2007 as work gets underway on a new concept in holiday homes at the Parmontley Hall Country Lodge Park – the first major development of its kind to be brought to the region.
Parmontley Hall – situated just outside Whitfield, near Hexham – will consist of more than ninety lodges, all made with ecologically sustainable timber cladding and designed to blend with their setting within the Whitfield Estate. This new enterprise brings to Northumberland a lifestyle concept which originated in Scandinavia, and has already proved extremely popular in Yorkshire and the Lake District.
It is hoped that the creation of Parmontley Hall will bring valuable domestic and non-domestic tourism into the region. The development is on track for completion in spring 2007, with an open weekend scheduled for the last week in May. The first owners are expected to be able to take possession just in time for the summer.
John Blackett-Ord, owner of Whitfield Estate, said: “These lodges are something I have been keen to bring to Whitfield for a while – this is the perfect way to share this beautiful part of the world with a lucky few, while also preserving the innate beauty and tranquillity that make this area so special.”
For lodge enquiries or to find out more about staying at Parmontley Hall contact the Estate Office on 01434 345273 or email parmontleyhall@whitfieldestate.co.uk.
