No ceiling for glass company

A County Durham architectural glass company is celebrating thirty years in business with a turnover of £1.5m and the launch of a new website designed to showcase its work. PLG Glass, based in Peterlee, have recently been involved with work for Wembley Stadium, the Royal Bank of Scotland in Paris, and the British Museum. Support from Business Link helped PLG Glass carry out an analysis of the business and identify how it could improve by using a detailed marketing plan. A new website www.plglass.co.uk was created where galleries illustrate the company’s huge range of prestigious projects.

Graeme Hawes, Director of PLG, said: “This is a big step forward for us. We are investing in new technology to give us better control of the whole production process. Continual investment is needed to make sure that we can meet the changing needs of our clients as we are in a competitive market. “Glass is a wonderful material and is becoming more and more popular with architects and designers.”

Director George Stephenson said: “The decision to re-launch with a new brand followed the marketing analysis that was supported by Business Link as it had such an impact. We are very proud of our North East roots but felt that we needed to establish more of a national and international identity.”

Business Link’s Nigel Hardy said: “This company carries out a large number of highly prestigious projects. We are pleased to have been able to help them with their plans to move forward and compete successfully in a global market.”
