'Special' boost to local job community
The North East’s only Sunday Times Fast Track 100 listed company has announced its latest period of growth with a recruitment drive which is set to benefit the wider community after the rumoured closure of another of the area’s employers. Northumberland-based The Specials Laboratory has confirmed it has contacted Robbs in Hexham with a list of available positions in a bid to help those who may lose their job due to the likely closure of the department store.
Managing director at The Specials Laboratory, Fiona Cruickshank, said: “As Robbs is a neighbourhood firm, it is our pleasure to support them and hopefully help their staff find suitable jobs within our company. As a business we believe in supporting the local community including school and colleges and are passionate about looking after people so it seemed a natural solution to work together.”
It was recently revealed that Fiona regularly takes keys away from staff to prevent them from working long hours. The Specials Laboratory and sister company Specials Clinical Manufacturing recently opened the doors to a new joint corporate headquarters at Stocksfield Hall in Northumberland. They will also use the extra space provided by the new site as a training and development centre for its staff.
