NCFE goes back to the classroom

Newcastle based NCFE, one of the UK’s leading qualification providers, is embracing Adult Learners Week by bringing the classroom to the work place. More than 90 NCFE employees will be encouraged to take part in a number of opportunities throughout Adult Learners Week, which takes place from 19-25 May, to learn a range of new skills.

Every day there will be a different activity for staff to participate in, designed to be useful at work and at home. These include counting in four different languages, decision making skills, arts and crafts, personal wellbeing and relaxation techniques. All staff members will be encouraged to take part in at least one activity and will receive a certificate for each session they attend.

Adult Learners’ Week is the UK’s largest festival of learning. Thousands of colleges, local authorities and other providers are involved in the annual week-long campaign which is designed to celebrate the achievements of adult learners and encourage adults of all ages to try something new.

David Grailey, Chief Executive of NCFE, said: “Adult Learners Week is an important event in the education calendar and we want to promote it internally as well as externally. There are currently thousands of adult learners throughout the UK and it is important that we highlight and celebrate their achievements. It is also important to encourage and inspire more people to pursue adult learning, whether it is to catch up on skills that they didn’t learn at school, to learn a new skill for work or just for fun.”
