Award double for healthcare organisation

CELS, the organisation driving the healthcare economy of North East England, has been certified to two international standards in the space of two months. The organisation has achieved both Investors in People (IIP) status and ISO 9001:2000 in recognition of the company’s ability to support the development of the life sciences and healthcare economy in the North East. The awards focus on quality standards and investment for the retention and development of staff, and reward what CELS describe as 12 months’ hard work by their staff.

Mike Asher, CEO, CELS, said: “We’ve worked hard to achieve both Investors in People and ISO 9001:2000 status in a relatively short time. Key to our success has been introducing new organisational and management systems and new recruitment, training and personal development policies.”

ISO 9001:2000 status was awarded for CELS’ work ensuring consistency of approach and visibility across the processes and procedures used within the company. The certification was awarded for the organisation’s provision of project management for commercial and support services to the Healthcare and Life Sciences economy. CELS are hoping that gaining IIP and ISO 9001:2000 certifications will help to strengthen the organisation and its ability to drive innovation and commercialisation of life sciences technologies across the North East.
