Specialist PR man moves back to his native North East
One of the UK’s leading specialists in social media PR is moving from London back to his native North East to work for a Newcastle based online PR agency. Stephen Davies from Durham previously worked for the world’s largest independent PR firm in London, but decided to make the move back home because the nature of his job allows him to work anywhere in the world with an internet connection. Stephen, 29, who is well known in the world of online PR and is frequently listed in the top 50 PR bloggers in the world will take the position of Social Media Manager at press release distribution agency webitpr.
Stephen said: “The rise of the internet is giving individuals like myself the opportunity to work on a global scale without having to live and work in large capital cities like London. Something that was almost impossible to do until only a few years ago. I met Adam by chance while he was in London on business. We hit it off immediately and found that we shared the same thoughts on where the world of online PR is headed.”
Online PR is now becoming a prominent area of discussion among the PR community because to the implications it has for the profession and the wider media.
Adam Parker, webitpr Chief Executive, said: “Stephen is not only known on a national scale but also on a global one so of course we are delighted that he joined the team.”
Stephen blogs at www.prblogger.com and will be running a workshop on online PR at this year’s Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Northern Conference held at St. James’ Park on Thursday 21 June.
