North East firms invited to join Queen's Awards elite

North East firms have been invited to find out they can join the business world ‘elite’ as a Queen’s Awards winner at a special breakfast seminar to be held at The Hilton, Gateshead next month. The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are seen by many as a mark of quality and success by companies and organisations in the UK and around the world.

The event on Thursday 12 July aims to offer an insight into the awards and the benefits that they can bring to winners. Companies can apply for the award in one, two or all three of the categories – International Trade, Innovation and Sustainable Development. There is also a Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion to reward individuals who have promoted business enterprise skills and attitudes in the UK by encouraging or training others.

David Coppock, UK Trade and Investment’s International Trade Director, said: “Companies who are successful in gaining a Queen’s Award really are joining the elite of the business world. The Awards are acknowledged as the most prestigious corporate award nationally that provides tangible benefits for companies who receive them. “The North East has produced many past winners in all the award categories and we’re hoping to welcome as many would-be winners as possible to find out how they can apply and gain recognition for their efforts.”

Ian Williams, Director of Business and Industry at One NorthEast, said “The Queen’s Awards really are the ultimate accolade for businesses and I’m pleased to say the North East has an enviable record in turning out winners. We want our regional firms to put themselves in the running for these prestigious awards and this breakfast is an ideal way for them to find out more about them and how past winners have benefited, in an informal and relaxed environment.”
