Bosses 'lack decision-making ability'
Half of all workers believe their bosses are poor at making decisions partly because they lack confidence or are just incompetent, according to a new report. The research, among 3,400 adults for Investors In People, showed that workers often feel frustrated or angry if their manager is poor at making a decision. Four out of five said it hit morale and half believed it affected productivity. Some of those questioned said they believed their managers had not had enough training or were not given enough power by their own boss.
Simon Jones, Acting Chief Executive at Investors In People said: “This is a worrying problem for UK organisations. Effective decision making is a vital skill for any manager and is critical to the smooth operation of organisations. Indecisive managers are a drain on the company and a major frustration for their teams.”
The study also showed that many workers claimed their views were not properly considered by their management.
