Woman Entrepreneur deadline approaching

Women in the region are being urged to enter the North East Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, as there are only six weeks left to submit entries. Now in their eighth year, the Awards recognise and reward the contribution being made to the North East economy by women and are specifically targeted at women who have set up or taken over an independently owned business in the North East.

There are nine award categories on offer, including ‘The Susan Dobson Award for Entrepreneurship’, sponsored by the Susan Dobson Memorial Fund, Young Woman Entrepreneur, sponsored by South Tyneside Council and a brand new category, Woman in the Service Sector sponsored by Solutions Recruitment.

Lisa Vickers of Women Into the Network, who are organising the awards, said: “We’re encouraging women across the region to shout about their achievements and put themselves in the spotlight this year by entering these important awards. Since the launch event in May, we’ve received nominations from women of all ages and across the business spectrum and they just keep on coming! “We have great talent here in the North East and these awards help us showcase that talent, increase their profile and ensure other women follow in their footsteps.”

Nomination forms to enter the awards are downloadable from the WIN website www.womenintothenetwork.co.uk, by calling Lisa Vickers on 020 8255 1660 or emailing info@networkingwomen.co.uk. The awards ceremony will be held at the Sage Gateshead on the evening of Friday 16 November. Only a limited number of tickets are left and can be purchased by contacting Lisa Vickers.
