Drink-drive suspect takes extreme measures
A suspected drunk driver shocked (yes, shocked!) police in Canada by using some strange tactics to avoid a breath test. According to Sky News, the 19-year-old suspect was found by an officer in Walkerton, Ontario, sitting in his car with the lights off on a country road. He was arrested when a police officer approached the vehicle and concluded the man was drunk.
As the officer prepared breath test equipment, the suspect grabbed a contact lens case in his car. He then drank the solution, ate one of his lenses and tried to eat parts of his shirt and socks. Police eventually had to try and undress the man to stop him eating all his clothes.
The suspect got into a tussle with officers and was subdued with pepper spray. When he was transferred to a holding cell, the man put his head in a toilet to avoid giving a breath sample. He has been charged with failure to provide a breath test.
