If you are concerned about identity theft you will find this report from Sophos worrying. Using a fictional character on Facebook, the research shows that 41% of users, more than two in five, will divulge personal information - such as email address, date of birth and phone number.

Rave of the week: Great news for online traders; the UK, Germany and France dominate European e-commerce, accounting for 72% of total online sales. According to emarketer.com the UK is by far the largest of the three major markets with projected 2007 sales of £42 ($84) billion.

Rant of the week: My first day back from annual leave was spent clearing my inbox; we are all wasting too much time dealing with unnecessary online correspondence. How about a national e-mail holiday during which no-one responds or send any e-mails? What date should we go for?
