Local businesses invited to enter Dragon's Den

A Dragon’s Den style event to be held in Tees Valley next month is looking to breathe fresh life into the commercial prospects of ambitious businesses by helping them to improve their prospects of attracting finance for growth. SMEs are invited to attend a two-day course at Middlesbrough Football Club run by NStar Finance & business that will give them an opportunity to put their business case for funding to real investors.

The course, which takes place on 26-27 September, will explore the different sources of investment that are available, after which businesses will present their ideas to a team of investors. Those presenting their ideas will receive feedback from a panel of experts and advice on how to improve their chances of securing finance for growth in the future.

Caroline Hughes, manager of NStar Finance & business explains: “Funding your Business Needs is about entrepreneurs receiving professional, practical business advice from experienced experts. Many businesses have great ideas, but attracting funding can be difficult. The advice and guidance we can offer will help to make them commercially more attractive to potential investors. “We’re looking for SMEs with ideas that have real potential for commercial success.”

The NStar Finance & business programme was set up earlier this year to help boost the region’s economic performance and is funded by One NorthEast. It helps businesses across the region find out what finance can do for them and is aimed at new and existing SMEs that are looking to accelerate growth and boost profitability.
