North East company wins NHS contracts with Cels help

Cels, the organisation driving the growth of the healthcare sector in the North East, is celebrating the success of a well-known orthotics manufacturer based in the region. Peacocks Medical Group, a leading UK provider of orthotic products and services, has won new contracts with four separate NHS Hospital Trusts across the UK, estimated to have a combined worth of £1m per year.

The company, one of the first member’s of the Cels Healthcare Network, has worked with the Cels team over the last three years to help shape and grow its business into a successful national supplier. Cels’ ongoing support has included strategic business advice as well as the implementation of practical programmes.

Mike Hartley, Project Director at Cels, said, “We have worked closely with Peacocks for a long time and it is great to see that our combined efforts have resulted in the winning of such prestigious nationwide contracts. Through the work of my team and the involvement of our members, we at the Healthcare Network are providing an environment where ideas can be conceived, opportunities recognised, new relationships forged and thoughts provoked; the overall aim being to support healthcare organisations to help them grow and create high-quality jobs in the region.”

The new contracts will see 10 new people employed at Peacock’s manufacturing base at Benfield Business Park. Plans are also underway to further expand the existing factory, adding an extra 10,000 square feet, catering not only to current demands but also to support future opportunities and an anticipated enlarged workforce at the rapidly growing business.

The Cels Healthcare Network is a membership organisation open to all healthcare companies in North East England. It aims to support, link and strengthen the region’s healthcare sector, promoting collaboration amongst the region’s business, academic and public sector organisations engaged in life sciences, health and healthcare.
