Making a Profound difference to the region's image
A new North East training and recruitment company is promoting greater service and customer care to taxi firms and their drivers in a bid to make visitors’ first impressions of the region even better. Entrepreneur Steven Ward launched Peterlee based Profound Services to deliver specialised taxi driver training to improve the overall service to visitors and customers.
Steven said: “North East people are well known for their warm and welcoming attitude towards visitors, however, it is important that when people arrive in our cities and hail a cab, that care and attention is afforded.”
Profound Services provide taxi driver training, overseas taxi driver recruitment and general recruitment. In a short space of time their taxi training division has received strong support from local councils and have already been awarded contracts from Berwick down to North Yorkshire.
Steven said: “What we have done is to take a lengthy taxi driver programme and condense it into a 3 day intensive course which leads to an NVQ qualification. We also provide bespoke half day courses to meet the ever increasing demands of driver legislation. Apart from the car, time is a taxi driver’s most valuable asset and they need to be on the road earning a living, our courses are designed to offer this.”
Edna Hunter, First Lady Chair of Durham County Council, said, “Profound have our 100% backing. We are working closely with drivers and taxi companies to promote the courses and qualifications. Having fully trained drivers in County Durham will be a great asset to our world heritage status. If we can provide more drivers with qualifications then the better it will be for everyone.”
