Dynamic Juo aim to bridge gap between creativity and business

A networking event with a difference is set to take place at the North East Business and Innovation Centre (BIC) later this month, as leading figures from the region’s creative industries come together to face questions from attendees. ‘Cashing in on Creativity’ will feature an informal ‘Question Time’ style setting, with a panel of representatives from the creative, financial and marketing industries who will be on hand to answer questions on what is happening in the region and the support available. David Dimbleby’s shoes will be filled by facilitator Caroline Theobald, of specialist regional networking organisation, the Bridge Club.

Caroline said: “We’re hoping that the panel discussion and audience debate will be beneficial to both creative people looking to become more established in business and business people who want to become more involved in sharing the benefits that arts and creativity can bring.”

The event will also feature a case study on award-winning glass design company Juo, who operate from a studio in Sunderland’s National Glass Centre. Designer Jessamy Kelly, who launched the business earlier this year with partner Joanne Mitchell, will also be on the panel to answer questions on how to successfully channel creativity through business.

Jessamy said: “Events like this provide an ideal forum to develop ideas and to meet like-minded people. If discussing our experiences can help people who are starting out in any kind of creative industry then we are delighted to be involved.”

The event takes place on Wednesday 19 September at 6pm. Attendance is free and a light buffet will be provided for attendees. Other panellists include Adam Lopardo, director of the sponsors club, and Paul Finch of Pulse Creative Marketing.
