Double deal in store for city sightseers

A North East cruise company has teamed up with an international bus tour operator to cash-in on the last days of the summer tourist season in their first ever joint business venture. Tyne-based River Escapes is making the most out of this year’s sunny September and has joined forces with open-top bus sightseeing company City Sightseeing in a bid to tempt more people to take tours of Newcastle before the long summer days come to an end.

City Sightseeing’s newly revised timetable has resulted in a partnership between the two organisations who, for a limited time only, can offer customers a double-tour of the city. Customers will be taken past many of the city’s most famous landmarks by bus before being dropped off along the Quayside to continue their journey on board one of River Escape’s vessels.

Managing director David Fozard said: “This is our first partnership with another tour operator in the region. We feel that the partnership with City Sightseeing is a viable joint business venture which makes perfect business sense as it is one of the most promising ways to generate more interest in our sightseeing tours before the season comes to a close. “This way not only can we enhance the experience for our customers and help them get the most out of the city, but by improving our links with other tour operators, we can work together to make the most of out the rest of the season and draw up a workable timetable that we can both benefit from.

City Sightseeing area manager Peter Dean said: “City Sightseeing is pleased to be working with River Escapes on this incredible business opportunity. Together we can offer a deal that goes beyond what people have experienced here before. “In essence we are actually offering the customer a mirror imaged effect; they can view the river from the city and then once onboard they can view the city from the river. “It’s a perfect day out for all, especially families wanting to entertain the kids and learn a lot of interesting facts about the region along the way.”
