In the news: In May 2007, 61% UK households had internet access, according to the UK Office of National Statistics’ “2007 Omnibus Survey.” The report also highlights the fact that 84% of UK households with internet access had a broadband connection in 2007, up from 69% in 2006.
About 90% of those age 25 to 34 know what a blog is, as do nearly two-thirds of those 65 and over, according to a Synovate-MarketingDaily survey. What a change in just a couple of years!
Firefox has released a plug-in called Adblock Plus enabling users to visit websites without encountering the ads such as Google AdSense that typically accompany free content. This is upsetting quite a few people out there!
eBay is now giving UK eTraders a widget called Vzaar that embeds video onto their auction pages. According to the Guardian, video can make a huge difference when selling items that demand a lot of information like cars and music.
Rave of the week: Microsoft has now launched an application package filled with their Windows Live services. Tools include Hotmail, Messenger, Live Search, blog, photo gallery and more. Give it a go and let us know what you think.
Rant of the week: According to BBC News the US Justice Department has said that internet service providers should be allowed to charge for priority traffic. I do not like where this is heading…
