Lofty praise for a Trafik-stopping second album

A cutting edge sync music agency, based in Newcastle, is enjoying critical acclaim after their in-house band, Trafik, released their second album of dance-floor fillers. After producing some of the best-selling dance music compilations of 2006 and 2007, Loft Music’s owners Andrew Archer and John Elliot released ‘Club Trafikana’ earlier this month.

Andrew Archer of Loft Music/Trafik said: “The album has been specially created and produced to be taken on a worldwide club tour - hence the name. Our unique live show utilises a mixture of decks, efx, synths, mixing desks and controllers, followed by a rocking DJ set. “It’s a fresh take on the standard dance album concept - we see it as potentially a great way to reinvigorate the fragmented nature of download culture. “Certain artists are really concentrating solely on live performances as there is very little income there for music sales, however, we think it’s best to work it from both sides, with the albums and the touring.”

Loft Music agency’s success has not been limited to the dance industry. Its music has been used on the one of the world’s most watched TV shows, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and recently on The Sopranos, and the agency also produces music for computer and videogames, advertisements, films and TV programmes. Its clients include Electronic Arts, Sony, BBC and CBS Networks, and Warner Brothers.

Carri Cunliffe, head of sector development at digital innovation centre Codeworks, said: “We’re delighted to hear that Trafik’s latest album is getting such rave reviews. The fact that the group is so highly regarded by TV and film producers as well as the dance industry proves what high quality they have.”
