E-Commerce funds available from tobacco legacy
Businesses in Darlington are being invited to apply for funding to boost their online capabilities. The cash is from the British American Tobacco (BAT) Fund, set up when its factory closed in the town in 2005 with the loss of almost 500 jobs. Grants up to £3,000 are available for information technology projects to help companies improve business, reach new markets, and create new jobs. The cash is being distributed through the council’s D2E project.
John Williams, leader of Darlington Council, said: “This money is available to help businesses here in Darlington to grow by improving their e-commerce capabilities. It’s important that firms across the town take advantage of this D2E project, because it could help them compete for a bigger market share, create more jobs and help them to thrive.”
