One-stop-shop for 15,000 jobs

Councils across Northumberland have joined forces to give jobseekers easy access to every local government job available in the county. The aim is to promote a wider number of opportunities for people to live and work in Northumberland and to demonstrate that there is tremendous potential for career progression within the county.

The seven authorities collectively commissioned North East digital recruitment firm Pearsons to develop a shared jobs portal - www.jobsnorthumberland.co.uk - which will bring every vacancy under one roof.

Lilian Hughes, managing director of Pearsons (Digital), explained: “Northumberland is a fantastic place to live and work and local government is one of the largest employers in the region offering a diverse range of jobs and career prospects. By bringing every vacancy on to the JobsNorthumberland website, we are providing an attractive shop window for the county as a whole which we believe will allow local authorities to compete successfully for the top talent.”

Nick Cook, Director of Personnel for Northumberland County Council, said: “Northumberland County Council and Districts have a long record of effective partnership working on personnel /HR issues. The Northumberland Portal is a prime example of how the seven authorities work together to promote Northumberland as a place to live and work. We provide a very diverse range of job and career opportunities. The Northumberland Portal provides our customers with a one stop shop with easy online access to all our jobs.”

Visitors to JobsNorthumberland will find job listings and online applications for every council featured. Crucially, it also offers a talent pool where individual job seekers can register their interest in working in local government and be considered for all suitable vacancies as they occur rather than having to apply each time.
